Unconventional: IBS 2019’s Biggest Home Trends

Market conditions are constantly changing, and, if you have any plans of putting your home up on the market, it would be a good idea to update your home’s aesthetic from time to time. And, even if you don’t have any plans to sell your home, the design of your interior still plays a large part in setting the mood in your home, which would, in turn, affect your quality of life. Design, after all, is one of more than just about looks; it’s also about functionality.

Some might say that keeping up with the design trends is too tedious and time-consuming. However, you only need to look at the annual International Builders’ Show (IBS) to find out what the new construction and design trends are.

Don’t have time to browse through the different highlights of the show? We’ve compiled a list of the biggest home trends for you.

Faster, Decluttered Food Prepping for the Future

One thing you’ll notice about modern homes is that they have a sleek look; the key to achieving this elegance is integration or the removal of visual demarcations.

Futuristic kitchen appliances were a highlight during this year’s show, with manufacturers revealing kitchen burners and controls directly built into the countertop. But what can this do for cooking meals? Well, apart from the fact the kitchen appliances are more resistant to wear and tear, the seamless countertop will reduce visual clutter. Cooking can get messy, and, when you have a lot of things going on the table, things can get hectic.

Industrial-Themed Lighting

Concrete chandeliers and pendant lights may seem like an avant-garde development, but, surprisingly, it works. Made with iron, these lighting fixtures have an organic feel that fits in well with the minimalist design trend that’s been gaining traction for years.

Bold Metal Finishes

Metal fixtures help set the mood in the interior, but rarely do they make a bold statement. That changed this year, however, with brushed gold faucets. These faucets are eye-catching but aren’t too luxurious.

Thinking about updating your home? Keep in mind that not all of the latest design trends will suit your abode. It’s best to consult a contractor to find out which ones do. Ritco Group, Inc., the recipient of the 2017 Angie’s List Super Service Award, offers remodeling and roofing new construction services.
