New construction, roof installation and most other types of major renovation work generate a lot of waste material. Waste management is an important practice for contractors and installers, not just to reduce the cleanup work after installation, but also to reduce potential hazards.

Here’s how we keep our work areas clean as we work.
1. We Plan Waste Management Beforehand
During planning, we take into account the property’s layout so we’d know which area to cover and designate as a holding area for discarded materials. Depending on the contract, a homeowner may opt to hire a disposal company separately. Keeping discarded materials in one place helps make sure that all of them are hauled away quickly and completely.
2. We Prepare the House Before We Begin
Before we begin construction or roof storm repair, we prepare the house to make sure that the furniture and other belongings are protected from dust as well as our installers going back and forth. Furniture will be moved out of the way and covered with dust covers. In case of a whole-house renovation, we will discuss temporary storage options with the homeowner.
3. We Mark Our Work Areas
We make it a point to limit our movement within the homeowner’s property by designating paths and work areas within the house and the yard. These areas will be covered by boards or similar material to protect the flooring or grass underneath. We also wear protective shoe covers whenever we work indoors.
4. We Clean Up Afterwards
Once we have finished with our work, we don’t leave the homeowners with the cleanup work. We vacuum and dust indoor work areas, put our tools and equipment in our truck, and we give everything a once-over to make sure we didn’t miss even a single nail on the ground. Before we leave, we gather all waste material in one place for later collection.
