Here are questions to ask your potential contractor’s references.

Past Clients

Ask your prospective roofer for at least three references from the last five years. Call and ask the references informative questions like if they were satisfied with the output or whether their project went above the expected cost. Verify if the contractor is respectful and punctual, and if they would hire the company again for future jobs. 

Recent Clients

Obtain references from the contactor’s last five projects. Call these people, and ask the same things mentioned above. A contractor’s work could suffer from job to job for different reasons. One mishap is understandable; however, a series of them is a sign to start looking for other local roofing companies. 

Suppliers

The financial stability of your contractor is important. Request three references from long-time material suppliers. Ask how long they have been selling materials to them and if they pay their bills on time. You should also ask if they would hire the contractor for their own home. 

Do They Have Valid License & Insurance?

You can check the validity of a roofer’s license through your state’s contractor licensing board. Hiring a licensed and insured contractor will protect you in case something goes wrong with your project. Ask your potential contractor for a company of their general liability insurance.
