As a GAF-certified contractor, we at Ritco Group are proud to provide quality products that have earned the Good Housekeeping Seal. In this blog, take a look at how products with the Good Housekeeping Seal benefit homeowners and local roofing companies alike.

What Is the Good Housekeeping Seal?
The Good Housekeeping Seal was created by the Good Housekeeping Institute. While there are many other certifications and seals of approval in the industry, the Good Housekeeping Seal distinguishes itself, not just because it’s backed by a 110-year-old authority on home improvement. In addition to its high standards for qualification, the Good Housekeeping Seal also offers a limited two-year warranty. It gives consumers financial protection that others do not have.
How GAF Earned the Good Housekeeping Seal
Remodeling and new construction products sent by manufacturers for qualification must pass the evaluation administered by the Good Housekeeping Institute. Today, as many as 50 GAF products have passed their in-depth evaluations. GAF asphalt shingles are found to have excelled in the following aspects:
Proven Performance — GAF Advanced Protection® Shingles underwent 185 individual tests for durability, longevity and weather resistance. Some of these shingles are designed for severe wind and hail impact.
Greater Energy Savings — Energy-efficient options like the Timberline® Cool Series® shingles are designed to reduce heat absorbed through the roof, which can help lower indoor cooling requirements. These features can help reduce energy bills during summer.
High-End Design — GAF Lifetime Designer shingles mimic the look of slate, tile and European wood shakes. You can achieve an authentic look for a fraction of the price with the exceptional performance of a GAF roof.
Total Versatility — GAF offers a wide selection of roofing products that cater to all climate conditions and house styles.
The Good Housekeeping Limited Warranty
The Good Housekeeping Limited Warranty is independent of the manufacturer’s own warranties. If a product that bears the Seal proves to be defective within two years from the date it was sold to the consumer, Good Housekeeping will refund the full purchase price or $2,000, whichever is less. Good Housekeeping may also opt to have the product repaired or replaced. Combined with GAF’s own limited warranties, you can have the peace of mind knowing that your GAF roof will protect your home years down the line.
