Roof Replacement: What to Expect

Roof replacement can either be a simple procedure or a complicated process. Depending on a variety of considerations (such as type of roofing material and extent of damage), the job can go differently for clients. Nevertheless, there’s a timeline that most roofers follow when they are hired to replace a roof.

Before the Project Starts

A few days prior to the start of the project, roofing contractors will have the new shingles sent to your home. Confirm with your roofer the exact date of delivery so that you can prepare storage for the shingles. You may also have to receive a dumpster, which will be used by your contractor to collect construction waste. Make sure you have enough space for this as well.

During Roof Replacement

It’s crucial for the workers to have enough space to move freely. That’s why you should make the work zone clear for the entire household. This is also important in ensuring everyone’s safety and preventing accidents or injuries.

However, unforeseen circumstances may arise, and local roofing companies may have no control over such things. That said, you have to be prepared for possible delays and setbacks. On the last day of the job, your roofer will give a final walk-through so that you can check their work and ask them questions relating to the job. You can also expect them to clean the site and look for debris, especially nails, in the surrounding areas.

After the Completion of the Project

If you haven’t paid your contractor in full, you can expect a visit from their representative to collect any final payments. They may also ask for your feedback regarding their service. Moreover, the dumpster delivered to your home prior to the start of the project will be picked up as well.
